PR Value

is it worth anything?

I got the hightest PR ranking in my category with respect to keyword: widgets.

When a search for widgets is done; I'm not even in the top 300.

I am aware the PR Value alone will not do much, however to not be in the
top 300 and to be first in Google's directory; make me think PR value
is worth 0.

Anyone else experiene the same?

yes. Local PR is important, PR for PR's sake isn't worth a fried hamster anymore.

>search for widgets is done
Could it be the effect of broad-matching and/or stemming, so that you are competing with a wider category than just widgets category?

Also that you can notice, that G directory categories are messed up.
