Making a new website from a section of my own site.

I have the largest link section for a certain topic on my main site, which itself is a popular "complete guide to widgiting". However I think this really useful and cool section is overlooked because there are so many sections in my current site that it is usually overlooked

Its over 300 links all with descriptions all categorized with a link manager system.

I am interesting in increasing my exposure and some side revenue by making a sister site widgetlinks.com. On this site i'd just have a duplicate of my complete link section from my main site and an adsense ad.

three questions

1. Is this a good idea? It would only cost 10 bucks a year for domain name registration and url forwarding to my current hosting, I am sure i can ATLEAST make that much a month by putting my adsense ads on that site.

2. Will google penalize my sites for duplicate content? Since one site is just a duplicate of a section of my main site.

3. Will adsense mind if I put ads on a site other than the one I specified when applying to google...

THANKS!

If it's beneficial to your users, then it's a good idea. I'd make the new site a bit different... different layout, different menus, etc. Then it won't be duplicate content - it'll just be similar content. And I think you can safely link from one site to the other (maybe not reciprocal links).

I don't know anything about AdSense.
