Before Florida I never noticed this but now I see more and more of those SERP.
One case that I might post is a profile of a ODP editor whose editor name is listed in a querry but as mentioned only with title and a link to similar pages.
Thanks for your feedback.
It looks like this is showing some kind of penalty.
The strange thing was that some pages from a site had a description and others had none though they were more or less identitcal (e.g. if one page was for big blue gadgets and the other one for small blue gadgets, both with a description for blue gadgets then only one showed a description on Google). All similar pages were listed but most of them with no description. That is where the thought about the penalty comes from.
A few pages that had no description were pages from our clients that were still on the server but had no link to it anymore.
So far we could put all pages from our clients without description in on of those two categories.
In my case , even index not showing either Title, Description or cache.
All pages Linked with index too have same situation BUT the pages that are NOT linked with index still show Title and Description.
So reverse of what you said. :-)
I wonder if its a kind of penalty.
Could anybody help in fiding if there is shortcut to know if anyother site Mirroring me like www.hissite.com?mysite.com
In case you are speaking about the site in your profile, it has PR 0 so some penalty might be in place for you (?).
This could mean that the assumption that
if Google is not showing a description then this shows that some kind of a penalty has been applied (whereof the not showing the description might be a side effect)
might be true ;).
also site in profile has PR 5
look carefully, Toolbar is bugging.
Few other sites have PR 5 and in same Slow Death situation.
This is totally a new 'Disease', where a proper diagnosis is needed.
Many of us are still wondering about it and no official "Words of wisedom" recieved so far.
BTW, check your all indexed pages in Google....are some of them without cache? are some of them disappeared from SERP for KWS they must show?
PS - this is not at all concerned with Florida Update
From here you not only have PR 0 for the site in your profile. If I am looking for pages for your site there is none in Google.
The pages I was talking about are there when I search e.g. for site:domain.com "+www.domain.com" or in SERP for keywords.
All of the pages without description are indeed missing a cache version.
I mentioned Florida as we realized this pattern for our sites only after Florida.
I am really wondering what is going on...
The site in Profile surely has a PR but its not indexed, ONCE IT WAS
at 1st stage it lost Title, Description and Cache at Google then it was outta index gradually.
Few other sites of mine.. are still in index , but dont show Title, Description and Cache.
they have a PR 5 too.
Its amazing
So I was right in saying that orphan pages that are not linked to anymore from anywhere but are stil showing in Google show this pattern.
But what about the other pages that have a link to but have no description?
As mentioned we found that for our clients those pages are
- pages with "duplicate content" in the sense that there are other pages which are very similar to the ones without description.
But why is Google not crawling those pages that have the same amount of links from the same pages as others that are showing a description?
Is there a duplicate content filter preventing the crawler to even visit the pages (but how could it find they are duplicates without visiting them...).
