Google not spidering inner pages

...well doesn't show up in the cached page

Googlebots visit our sites regularly (every few days) which is great for SEOing the index page it seems. However, I'm trying out something new on an inner page and am desperate to see how it does in the serps. I can alter the index and see the affect in the rankings after 3-4 days but it has been 10 days now and I still find this page on page 10 of google results on this search term. The cached page in that listing still shows the old page.

Did google suddenly change again or do I just need to be more patient? But why would google just come and spider the index every 2 days and not go deeper?

Generally speaking, the inner pages of your site have less PR than the top level pages. Google is known to favour "important" pages, and so seems to schedule its walkabouts to sample high PR pages in preference to others.

You can help the situation a little by linking to the inner page from the home page and other top level pages, but it may not make a great deal of difference.

One of my sites has the home page visited every day, even though it rarely changes. Other pages get a knock at the door perhaps once a month.

Patience, as you hinted, is no bad thing...
