a trickle of traffic

Does anyone else have a catalog on Google?
If so, are you seeing any traffic yet?

Also, every so often I find the Google Catalogs announcement on the Google home page. Then it goes away.

Is any one else seeing this?

Hoping my trickle turns into a flood.:-)

I have a former client in the catalogs that was asking me about it last week. Looking through their logs, I couldn't find any grand gold rush, but there was enough traffic to warrent investigating further. Yep, the catlog link on the homepage is now you see it, now you don't.

I was hoping that we weren't missing some traffic and you confimed it.

The great irony is that we were hoping that our website was going to make publishing a catalog obsolete in a couple years. Freeing up manpower and cash. Well Google has scuttled those plans.

The feature we are most exited about is that Google will forward names and addresses to us and we are going to mail back catalogs.

I just checked, and they've added our catalog to their listing. Took a while, but it's there.

I'll have to do some digging at the end of this week (when our host makes the log files available) to see if I can extract any traffic data. Our Google referrals are trending upwards, so maybe it's doing some good?!

The only problem I have is that they're using a secondary domain as the link...the domain I'm not really pushing, but the one we're using on the catalog because it's shorter. A minor complaint, maybe, as getting anything listed is a positive, right?

Ya, getting it listed is a positive. Being in there with the catalogs has got to help at some point. The competition is there, you need to be there for whatever may come of it.

Google seems to have updated the 'Google Catalog' section as well. We are now listed. It doesn't appear that there are any advantages to being listed besides the listing itself.

In other words...
No PageRank boost
No backlink

I searched on "google catalog {my company name}" and the Google doesn't even list their own page! I suppose this is because of the Beta status.

The only client I have ever advised to submit to the Google Catalog section got their brochure published to live within 2 weeks of it being sent off (and that includes mail time from the UK >> US)

Yes, the response is very fast. In fact they included two of our catalogs.

you seem to be suggesting that google included a non-US catalog for a client of yours. Is this true as they say on their website that they will only accept US catalogs?

i tried to submit a UK catalogue and was rejected... (this was about 2 weeks ago)

I put a catalog on google. Like the others said, it is only a trickle of traffic, but it is still a cool feature.

Problem is most people dont know about the google catalog page.

I have noticed that the search in catalogs returns a 404 on any given topic.

Also, when you click on any of the catalog pages you get a 404. [Apparel & Acc]

Could be an update of sort, or the fact that the program is in Beta.
Can anyone else verify this?

Ahh...interesting, now it working.. Never mind, probably an update.
