Similar Pages/Backward Links

How do i get these?

I have just had a look at my web site and see that Googles Robot has updated with my new site but i was wondering why i do not have any 'similar pages' or Backward links and never have done.
The front page links to around 20 internal links and about 4 external high ranking sites plus i have added my site to loads of search engines over the years.
Anyone? I have been told that having these can increase your page rank?

I am not 100% about this, but I think the only backlinks that show are the ones with a PR above 4

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

So i take it you mean any links i have external from my site with a pr > 4 should be shown?
I have deliberately placed a link from my index page to a site with pr about 8 but it still shows nothing - im baffled!

Have a look at your backlinks on All The Web, it will show more than on Google.

link:domain.com -site:domain.com

We are talking about incoming links I take it?

Yeah, i had a look at all the web and i have about 4 pages of links but what is the difference between alltheweb and google especially as other people manage to have backward links?
