I found results with no title, no link, no 'similar pages' link and no cache. Just the snippet, the URL (green), the size and the date are shown. Here you'll find several examples. [google.com] (There is also a result with not even a snippet: www.example.com/ - 12k - 8 Nov 2003 - -)

Is this new or was this already discussed?

Just to clarify: I'm not talking about not yet index pages or pages with noarchive tag. These results are different.

This is probably not related to the question above, but there are also sponsered links without a title.

That's strange. The problem (no title/link for several results) still exists.

It appears

- for different browsers (Opera, Explorer)
- for different languages: hl=en, hl=de
- even if I directly access to a data centre: fi, ex, cw, ...
- even when I used yahoo.de
- even if I access to the different data centre using a web site which displays the results of all data centres

As far as I know, always the same results are affected.

However, when I try to reproduce the results on my computer at work, everything is fine.

Any suggestions?

Nope, not a clue doc_z. I do know that when you put a robots.txt exclusion on pages, first that all disappears before the pages are finally purged, but I've just had it happen to a site for no reason whatsoever - except that it was moved from one server to another. But so were several other sites during the same week.

In fact, the site in question (a non-profit that's been up and the same for 4 years except for a cosmetic redesign last year) has only the URL link with no title, no description, no cache, no nothing except a link with the URL.

I have seen these kind of results numerous times for pages which are not spidered. However, the results I'm refering to, have no link. Moreover, there is also no 'similar pages' link (which is normally shown even for not indexed pages).

The strange point is that I get different results (regular at work and 'truncated' at home, respectively) on different computers.

I think the difference in truncated or not has to do with your preference settings on the number of results shown?

No.

At work I'm getting the following kind of results:
______________________________________________________

<title with link>
... snippet ...
www.first-result.com/ - 56k - Cached - Similar pages

<title with link>
... snippet ...
www.second-result.com/ - 44k - Cached - Similar pages
______________________________________________________

At home, some of the titles (as well as the 'chached' and 'similar pages' link) are removed:
______________________________________________________

<title with link>
... snippet ...
www.first-result.com/ - 56k - Cached - Similar pages

... snippet ...
www.second-result.com/ - 44k - -
______________________________________________________

Well I had a similar problem about a month back. I thought that there might be some virus or spyware which was doing it. And yes the results were different on my home and work machines. It lasted for some time. I do not recollect much of it now though. Now i know at least i am not the only one who got such results.

My understanding is that it means that in that data center's files, the page has not been indexed and stored, but a page that links to that page has been indexed.

mil2k,

have you fixed the problem or does it disappear?

Sharper,

as already explained, this has nothing to do with not yet crawled pages.
my results: no link, snippet, no 'similar pages' link
not yet crawled: URL is linked, no snippet, 'similar pages' link

It looks like the site I've got the problem with hasn't been visited by any search engines at the new location - all the others have. If it doesn't clear up in a couple of weeks I'll put it on a unique IP. I can't imagine why it's the only one.

Added:
All the pages are in the index and showing toolbar PR - but it's not in AlltheWeb and no search engines have visited at all.

I just checked robots.txt as an afterthought, and with a quick look found an accidental syntax error. Mystery solved, that'll do it!

It disappeared. Though i am not sure how it disappeared. ( I generally format my hard disk every few days).

I've added a raft of pages to one of my sites, and I have something which probably belongs in this thread...

Many of the files are PDFs.
Some PDFs are indexed.

Some PDFs are unindexed...
The SERPS gives the URL and a "similar pages" tag only.

One, though is in a halfway house state... it's similarly unindexed, but has an extra line in the SERPS which says PDF - view as HTML.
If I click it, it says there's nothing there...

Curious!
