Does GoogleBot sometimes hit faster?

First time I notice this. The spider usually hits on about every 30 seconds, I got a new site hitted every 10 seconds for an hour yesterday night.

Someone saw that before?

I sometimes get 1-2 hits/second if googlebot gets hungry.

The most I've seen is about 7 pages per second, but it doesn't last long. Maybe a minute or two and then it goes back to no more than 2 or 3 per second.
