Doorway pages in directories

Im thinking about creating small websites hosted in free space offered by companies like Geocites, Tripod and angelfire - my reasoning is that all of these websites have directories of member pages get some page rank in?

any body had any experience with this?

I have a site on a free ISP in the UK that has a directory listing.

The listing is about last in any SERPS that I think applies to my site.

And I get deluged in Spam because of that directory.

If I augmented my manhood by the amount I'm offered every day, I could stand in the UK and put a fire out in Australia...

I've had experience with it - only with real content might your sites hosted on these free servers get any real rank - if not it aint worth it - no real content no real rank :)
