Is the directory information served from different data centres like the search results are?
And so my relationship with the unOpen Directory has run its cycle. It's funny to see my site gone while a site banned from Google 2 years ago hangs right in, broken links, non existant pages and all.
Don't bother explaining about how dmoz doesn't consider spam when reviewing and all that. I know. It's just funny, that's all.
Anyhow, just wanted to say I shan't be mentioning it again here.

It's on the Google site, and the page won't scroll right, either. Something is wrong with the way it's loading. I've seen that a few times with includes that resist being included - there's a big hesitation 'til they finish up loading.
Also, most of my pages moved up in their categories. yay! :)
For example we have moved up the list for our main area in the directory and. lo & behold, we are now in the top ten in the regular search results.
One of our competitors has a PR4 from the tool bar but in directory-ex shows just a PR3. He was previously #8 in the serps and has now dropped to #15.
Does anyone else see this in their areas?
Have a domain that has been in ODP for 2 months, hasn't come into G's directory

The new directory is also in -in.
The old version is still at -va, -ab, and -dc.
The domains at -fi and -cw are not responding at all. The browser just hangs, waiting.
There is no directory at -zu, -sj, -gv, -mc or -kr.
What is the date of the latest ODP changes that are showing in the new -ex and -in directory?

Site added to DMOZ in April makes a first sighting in the G directory. Thanks steveb, I'd long given up on looking for it.
That is, Google SERPs already knew about what sites are in what categories at dmoz.org even if directory.google.com was not yet listing those sites in those categories.
It is the last part of that that Google has updated today.

Confirming g1smd's observations, I noticed that boost when the G category started appearing underneath previously unlisted sites (about a month or so ago).
Disagreed. One site added to dmoz in July (end) and one site added in september (end). The last one is today showing first time at regular google search results. Only one back link - which is dmoz. Still no category listed with the site - allthough it's listed at directory-ex since today. The other site (listed at dmoz in july) also doesn't show any category and didn't change its position since weeks. So my guess is, there has been no visible change yet based on these past "invisible" directory updates nor on the new directory-ex update yet.
What happens to your site really depends on whether it was listed in the ODP before or after appearing in Google Search results, and exactly when these things happened.
Hmm...I'm not so sure if this is so. If true, that means that Google was crediting sites with Google directory links, even though they had yet to publicly appear. One thing about Google and the ODP is Google recognize links from *both* dmoz.org and the Google directory. Notice that both have visible PR with the toolbar. Thus, once the Google directory updates, if you are listed in Shopping > Widgets, your site gets the boost from links on both, not just one.
Yes, yes, Google did credit links that did not yet exist.
Site went online in 2003 April, and was picked up by Google search engine a week or so later.
Site added to ODP in brand new category in 2003 May. Category dumped to RDF every week thereafter.
In July, Google SERPs suddenly have a link like:
Category: Regional > Continent > Country > County > Town
appended to the search results listing.
Clicking the category link went to an error message on the Google Directory site: >> this category cannot be found and has probably been moved << but it had NOT moved, it had not yet even existed in the Google Directory, it was a brand new category, one that had not yet even been created at directory.google.com and had only ever been seen at dmoz.org so far, so, yes, Google advertised in their search results for categories which they said were in their directory but which were not yet actually in their directory.
For several months the search results at Google knew what the latest category structure at dmoz.org looked like, and Google search results reported that directory.google.com was using that same structure even though directory.google.com was NOT using that struture at all.
Only now (as of today) is the category actually formed and populated in the Google Directory itself (but so far only on -ex and -in servers), even though the category link has been on the search results for that site for the last 3 or 4 months.
No crawl of the dmoz, no new pr for them since at least 4 months. No doubt.
