I have noticed simple abuse of "keyword.com" in Title tags easily fool google's "100+ factors-analysis". Obviously, for a given keyword, the domain name keyword.com is usually the authority for that specific keyword. So google must think when it sees "keyword.com" in the title, that it surely must be the mistake of the webmaster for keyword.com. However slick this might be, when there's 150 results spamming "keyword.com" in their title tag, google should be smart enough to detect some foul play. I might be completely crazy [my PR didn't update for my big site, so i'm a saaad panda :(] and google might just be detecting the "keyword" part of "keyword.com" in the title tag... but anyway, I just wanted to see if anybody else has noticed or uses this technique to achieve high rankings. Thanks for your input in advance.

Another note, I've noticed very heavy subdomain spamming with each page having 100% duplicate content, and ruling the SERPS.

I would put money on it. Also, people might link to those pages with that word.

A quick look at a search for "hosting" tells me that:
1. There seem to be 2 hosting.com's (must be Verisign playing around again ;)
2. Inbound link text isn't in play for the first 2 results...

Same here just pushed a IT related site out and for a top keyword, the top 50 SERPs is ruled by 2 main sites, i think the other one copied the other just to compete and get into the top 20, as the one has at least 20 + subdomains all showing the exact same content in the top 50.

airpal if you check out the ' allinanchor ' at google:
[google.ca...]

You will see that those sites are most likely #1 & #2 because of anchor text and they are owned by the same company wich is why your seeing hosting.com in the title.
