Does googlebot visit banned domains?

I've had a domain for over a year that I always intended on creating a huge site on. I put a full page portal (from a PPC company) on the front page while I developed it. I did link to this front page because I earned a reasonable amount from the traffic. The page has been indexed in google, for over a year. And still now shows PR5. I never got any traffic from google, because the search term for the domain name is very unpopular.

I spent the last 6 months designing it, and getting content for the site. The site now has over 1 million pages, and it now seems to be being deep crawled every day almost (but still doesn't appear in the Google's index (which is a worry, since I link to it from a PR6 page and normally they at least temporaily appear after being spidered). I've linked it in well to my network of sites (relevant and unique content cross linking only, which helps Google). The front page still appears in google's search results with the old page description, when I do a search for the domain, but when I click on the cache is says cache:some_google_key:wwwmydomaincom/ mydomain - did not match any documents.

I'm now worried that if it banned, and if I do change the domain name to something else, the new domain will not get indexed because Google seems to be spidering it everyday, and could class a new domain with the same content and copied content.
