Domains Dropped

I know I'm not the first, but I have to ask ;-)

ok, my first noobie post ;-)

I had about 70 domains that dropped off google several months ago. I'm not exactly sure why. It could have been a duplicate content issue on some of the domains where I had a temp page for domains to be developed, but I'm not sure. So when I do a search like domain.com on google, they don't come up. But when I search for them with [domain.com...] most of them come up with tags and all. I'm really confused about this one. I can't tell if they're banned or if they were just penalized. Either way, it seems like these domains are toast. Anyone have any thoughts?

Oh, and my server was down a few times for periods as long as a few days. The hosting issues have been since resolved but now I'm not sure what direction to take on these domains. Some of them are important ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

If your domains are still active, you can write to webmaster@google.com with the subject line "reinclusion request" and ask if your sites have been penalized. According to those from here who have written, Google does respond back.

I had the same thing happen. No dup content but a couple of sites which were listed on Google for over a year disappeared. Strangely the toolbar shows backlinks and pr5 for the sites. However, the sites do not show up in serps or for the www.url.com search.
I tried a inclusion request several months ago, but no response and no effect. I wonder what I can do now. Any suggestions?

Try another reinclusion request or optimise for inktomi or buy another domain and put a 301 redirect from the old and see if the new one gets ignored or just start all over again.:)
I had an experience with a domain that had an expired domain penalty and was getting nowhere.I bought a new domain and copied the old one word for word.I put new links to it but was surprised by its quick high ranking. Lo and behold Google attributed penalised sites backlinks to it and thats why it was top of the serps.
I had done no 301 nor any robots text.Just straight copied .
