PR not transferring?

I could use some help on the question of a PR 7 link not raising PR above 3

I'm a way green newbie at this stuff, but this seems simple enough, except it doesn't seem to be working. A client of mine bought text links from a site with lots of PR 7 and even 8 pages and pointed them at 3 seperate sites. Google shows the link under "pages that link to", put no PR appears to have been transferred. Any suggestions? Any and all comments and suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Dave, forgeting PR and getting links from on-topic pages is sensible, but if oaktown wants to know if PR is transferring in particular case, it's important to understand what would happen if it was transferring. Then he can see if it isn't.

But there is no way to do this? Only Google can. I honestly see trying to waste time calculating PR etc as nothing more than a witch hunt. All this time and energy could (and should IMO) be used on something you can measure.

There are ways to infer greater precision with accuracy, when the scale is low resolution but accurate. In this case, the Toolbar scale is far more accurate than it is precise, but only when the special cases are known and discounted.

It would be a shame to discourage people from researching things just because the methods and applications aren't obvious.

Very true. But Google PR is a blackbox that none of us can see into. I feel "research" would be better spent of something that can be measured and proven right or wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, links from other pages help with PR and *bring in traffic*. Knowing anymore detail than that would not help me and i doubt I would approach the matter any other way.
