It's probably been there for years and I just never bothered clicking it but since when did Google have links to dictionary.com for looking up the meaning of your search terms?

Cheers,
Nigel

Not sure exactly how long, but it's not a brand-new feature.

It has been there for ages, but they don't really advertise it.

Yeah, been there for ages. Probably even before August 2000 as can be seen from Archive.org [web.archive.org...]

On that page, click on the result for Aug 15, 2000 or check out this url [web.archive.org...] which mentions that "Searching for Dictionary Definitions" existed during that time.

Made_in_Sheffield,

Have you been listening to Dave Gorman talking about his Google-Whack adventure, by any chance?

No but it did come up in relation to a Google Whack :) I just never paid any attention to that line of the SERPs before, you find something new everyday, even on Google :)

Cheers,

Fair enough. It's just that he mentioned it in his Googlewhack show, in Sheffield, yesterday, and I thought "I'd never noticed that". Then you, Made_in_Sheffield, post an "I'd never noticed that" post; I assumed there'd be a connection. Oh well. :)

Anyway, back to the topic of the thread...

> Googlewhack show, in Sheffield, yesterday

I'm curios, where in Sheffield was that?

Nigel

It was excellent, but (if it's any consolation) was just another story about him getting drunk with his passport, taking on a stupid bet, and flying around the world to get his photo taken with strangers.
