No Fresh Listings in Over a Week

I wrote a letter to Google questioning certain AddWord Listings

A little over a week ago, while searching the web I found a page which had or still is using Google Adwords. The site in question was a link farm, so without expecting a reply I wrote an email to Google asking them to explain their support of link farms (through Adwords) because I felt Google was being a bit hypocrital supporting such sites when it's clearly not in their TOS not to use such services. I got a nice reply explaining why they support Adwords for sites like that and felt "ok, that's that". Very soon after my site, which was freshed most every time new fresh listings come out, the fresh listings stopped and I've not seen them in over a week. Googlebot activity has been nill. My rankings have not changed (in any of the datacenters and my PR is holding), but I'm now wondering if my letter had anything to do with a lack of a fresh tag. My only reciprocal links were made the hard way - one email at a time and I've never used a link farm although I will admit that there are some FFA links pointing towards my site. My question is: Could/Would Google penalize my site for the reasons mentioned above. I rather doubt I'm penalized because the SERP's are still good, but the lack of the freshbot has me concerned. Any thoughts

Hey coosblues, nope: we wouldn't have done anything like that. We like to get feedback (positive or negative). Your letter wouldn't have had any impact. The timing of fresh tags can vary based on crawling, when data rolls out, and a lot of factors like that..

There was a thread in the Supporter's forum about the lack of fresh listings last week. I didn't see any fresh tags on my site for about a week until the 9th. This being on a site that had been freshed daily for at least a month. As such, I think you should see Freshbot soon enough.

OMG - my first answer from GoogleGuy (and a good one it was). I even mentioned your nick in my email to the AdWord Department. Thanks so much for your reply. Aww, I can sleep tonight. Cheers.

The timing of fresh tags can vary based on crawling, when data rolls out, and a lot of factors like that..
And at times, even based on your search. For instance, if I search for 'my location keywords' (no quotes) I will get my site to show up with the fresh tags. If I search for 'keywords in my location' then the same page will show up without the fresh tags. I am not getting a different datacenter as I check with the browser pointing to a particular center. I know I could be getting a different machine within the datacenter, but it was happening consitently over a period of time. Any thoughts?

I view fresh tags as icing on the cake. It's a nice extra, but not necessary. :)

It's like a lot of frostings, they look nice, but they're overly sweet and often the only thing left untouched when the cake is gone.

Suffice it to say I tend to rank better over time when I have no fresh tags, regardless of whether the site was freshcrawled.

Having made no changes to my site for several months, I figured that it would take a couple of weeks for Google to index some minor changes I made last week. In fact, Google had the new pages cached within three days. Just for once, I was impressed.

Now I wonder how long it will take Google to absorb all the extra backlinks I worked hard for over the weekend. Probably more like three months.

The Googlebot seems to have forgotten my website. No visits in over 2 weeks (going on 3) despite fresh content and rather good incoming links. I was freshed every few days until then. Is anyone else noticing the same thing? My serps remain good, but new content and pages are just not being indexed.

Yeah I have the same problem, it's know 5 weeks ago and ever since that I've been refreshing content on a daily base. There are just no results, :) maybe all my efforts are in vain. But we'll see

I have not seen freshbot for a while but he came yesterday to what appears to be every site I have. He also wandered through the links to other sites.

I think he was taking a break.
