I put description and keywords in meta tags of main pages of my website. Google is index them. But i can't see google picking up the description and key words.

When I type any thing which is in my keyword meta tags then it doesn't display my page in result. As well as it's not showing my description in result.

What i want is google should pick up the key words since there is no other ways for people tp find my site then if they don't search through key words. Also I want google to pick description since otherwise how people would get convinced going to site.

please can some bosy help me with that. And can some body tell me if I am making any mistake by looking at the source of my pages.

Please help.......

mushy,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

Google does not use the <meta name="keywords"> tag.

Google does not use the <meta name="description"> tag unless there is no other text (or very little text) in the page body.

Write a short descriptive paragraph about the subject of your page and put it at the top of the page. Add more text to the page body for your visitors, and use your keywords in that text.
