diced images and Alt tags

Is it spam or keyword enabled?

Just a quick one - how does Google view diced image Alt tags? Do you use one only or the whole set? Most dices run from 9 to 12 images? Would this be considered spam if all had Alt tags or keyword enabled?

In some ways I see it would be over zealous - however for visitors with a sight disability it would make sense?

Any ideas on this one?

We have no idea, and Google has never published anything about Alt tags.

Hmmm - I suspect that it is an issue where you end up with a high saturation of Alt tags with similar strings - especially if the strings are on topic.

The last refresh we had sent new pages scurrying back deeper from position mid 80 to mid 170 something. When I searched through the source code I realised that the key word string was too high for Alt tags - 22 or similar. So I have removed them and will monitor the result after the next refresh.

Everything else about these pages seemed fine - so I am struggling to find a reason for the sudden dive!

Worth the thought! Thanks;
