what's the best way to tell if and how I've been hit

doing site:domain.com domain.com

google shows 200-400 pages indexed depending on which server you try.

BUT, if I do a search for my unique copyright statement that appears in the footer of every page only 2-19 results are listed.

All pages except the home page are white barred, but the site has always been clean as it is now.

how can I tell for sure if duplicate content is an issue here?

Thanks!

Add &filter=0 to the end of the Google URl.

Thanks ogletree, but I've tried that and don't quite understand what I'm seeing. No matter what search I try, or what site, if I use &filter=0 the results always seem to change. Can you explain in more detail?

The &filter=0 is the same thing as going to the end of a search where you see

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 24 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

You will notice that some sites will have a lot more results when you do that. Google will only show 2 pages from one site on a search.
