Interesting .. any one noticed the GOOGLE News? Looks like they are taking on YAHOO and all the others head on soon. If you have the toolbar, click on the Newspaper like button. It's apparently in BETA. Looks like there will some major changes in the scene once again.

Where are you seeing it on the toolbar? And are you seeing a version change?

That's what I was wondering, I thought it's been in the drop-down list. Actually, to be perfectly honest I forget that it's there, I had to look to make sure.

It would be a handy thing to have it right out on the toolbar visibly as a reminder. Maybe it's one for the suggestion box.

I have a Google News button right on my toolbar - looks like a newspaper icon, on the left side of the PageRank. I might have set it up in the options though, but I've had it there since I got the toolbar. I use it all the time ;)

It may be a different version. Jen, what version is yours?

2.0.95-big/en (GGLB) is my version. I downloaded it as soon as the new beta version was made available this summer. I remembered that whole auto-install thread, so I thought it just must auto-install whenever updates were available.

I did check, and in options for the toolbar (click the Google logo on the toolbar for the dropdown) and I have the News button checked.

Mine is also Version 2.0.95. I didn't realise it's old. If it's old, then they may be rolling it out real soon.

Mine's the same version and I put it up now. Gotta break that default habit and start going custom!

I'm still running the old version 1.x and google news is in there - in the options "News button, to navigate to the Google News site".

When they auto-update your toolbar they usually mess with your options so it's probably turning itself on even though you had it off before.

The Google news is very old.

To get the icon on your toolbar just click options then put a little tick in the news box :)

Its amazing how a tick in the right place makes a big difference.

Actually, I think the news on the toolbar is relatively new (but I could be wrong).

It looks like there's a newspaper button that takes you to news.google.com but now there's also a drop-down for google news searches (from the toolbar). I believe that is new (as a lot of people have been asking for that).

Maybe I (and others) didn't notice because the toobar updates itself (doesn't it?).
