Anyone have a good idea to get the home page indexed more often. I keep seeing the updated dates on other sites in google's rankings, but my home page doesn't seem to get re-cached as often. The bots are in the logs, but no fresh updates as often as others near my rank. Any reason, is there something specific that if I change it will hit me most days & cache. Ideas? could use some.
Thanks in advance.

Googleguy has said "Google loves fresh" more than once. It's been my experience, that if I add new content, change around the order a bit, or even just add a couple new words, then the page will get crawled and updated as "fresh."

i was thinking of adding a change of date calender ( october 2,2003) for example. I wonder if that would qualify as change of content and where in the source it would be better to add it for the bot to see changing content, what do you think. would it make difference.? thanks again

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Dustinw!

I use to be like you, somedays ago, What I did was just did some Frequent Updates in my pages, made new content, used a little SEO and after somedays Googlebot got use to visiting my site and updated it in every database update it does, usually every 2 days! I think thats what you need to do, If fact:
I have a PR=0!

I think thats a pretty good way to get Googlebot working at your site.

I know have some backlinks , but still have a PageRank of 0 , so hopefully Google updates my backlinks and I get a Higher PR!

Probably not, unless you hard code it each day. The scripts that usually do these dates will almost certainly not cause the page to be fresh crawled.

And yes, Welcome to Webmaster World! [webmasterworld.com]
