Google News had 2.24 million unique visitors in August, making it the 17th most popular general news site, according to comScore's Media Metrix.
We are fundamentally a big-picture newspaper, but we can't neglect the breaking news aspect and will probably have to get into a different strategy.
Lots of references to Google News being a newspaper, with 'editions' etc. Also some of the problems faced in relation to news values - the 'news worthyness' of different stories to different people.
