Mixing graphics & text in links

Will mixing graphics and text in links cause problems for Google?

I have several pages that have thumbnail images of products with the name & model of the image displayed directly underneath them. When I originally built the pages, I used the graphic as a link to a page with more information about that product. In an effort to improve the ranking of each individual product page, I was thinking that I could add the text that is currently below the graphics to the same link.

Which one of the following would be better:

1.) Use only text links to link to the other pages.

2.) Mix text and graphics in the links to the other pages.

3.) Make them separate links - one for text and one for graphics.

4.) Take a nice long vacation and forget about the whole issue until the money runs out, then deal with it.

I don't want to add too many links. I read on the Google web site that it is better to limit the number of links to about 100 per page. That is why I was thinking of incorporating the text and graphics together in the same link.

Use only text links to link to the other pages.

My preferred method unless usability suffers.
