hey I have been doing pretty well on the searches for my key words. I need to upgrade my hosting plan so I will have new DNS and IP address. I am shifting from shared to dedicated server. Can anybody tell me if it will effect my google ranking. If it does then what should i do . I will appreciate your reply. thanks Deepak

The G-Bot will follow you to the end of the Universe :)
I switched hosts recently with no ill effects in traffic.

See if you can keep your site on both the old and new IP until Google update their DNS cache. Not just Google for that matter. Keeping both IPs for a while would be a good idea.

1. Put the site up on both servers.
2. Set the TTL value for the domain on the old server to 5 minutes.
3. Switch the DNS info on the domain record.
4. Wait for Googlebot to log an entry on the new server.
5. Take the site on the old server down at your leasure.

If you leave both sites up, googlebot may take a long time to find the new site. I'd leave both sites up for about 2 days until the DNS cache updates for people around the Web, then delete the old site. Googlebot will see that there is no site where it is used to look and will query DNS to find the new location. That has been my experience as the best way to do it, and googlebot will find it quickly if it is spidering you regularly to begin with.
As far as I can tell, the idea that Googlebot takes weeks or months to find a moved site is at least outdated and probably was never entirely accurate.

I have changed my web hosting 2 weeks ago.. Google bot has no problem crawling my site and I don't see any changes to my traffic.
