Changes in Google backlinks

Backlinks different on www-ex and www-sj data centers

Is this really a Google Dance?
I'm seeing differences in backlinks and even PageRank for some sites. For the moment, two data centers give the new results: www-ex and www-sj.

Yahoo's backlinks are down from 857,000 to 806,000

Hope you're going to get a PR10 :-)

I see the updated "backlinks" but, has anyone seen updated pr on there(or other) sites?

Yes, up in some, steady in some, down in some, definitely a major revision across the board. More backlinks seen in www-ex.

this is still like a semi-update to me ..

there are sites which have been in google and dmoz directory for 1 month or so but they aren't in the backlinks this time. Not only the directory but other backlinks (quite a few) aren't showing up as yet.

Plus, internal (pages) PR also hasn't settled for some sites which are 2 or 3 weeks old. So the big update hasn't shown yet, it's still due.

This is like a mini update in my opinion - some SERPs look to be changed.

Hi all.

Results on www-ex appear to be very similar to what I saw on this thread:-

[webmasterworld.com...]

Not identical, but very similar on a lot of searches - seemed to be a very large emphasis on anchor text back then too.

Dont know what to make of this yet.

right now i'm seeing a new datacenter. Across all 10 datacenters of the dance tool, as well as -kr, I am at #2 for a given phrase. On regular google I am now at #3. Tracert for this takes me to [216.239.33.99...] What datacenter is this?

Just 2 servers (EX, SJ) updated? Anymore?

That's all I'm seeing right now. And -sj seems to be alternating between the new backlinks and old backlinks.

tritto; with a few other anomalies
I'm noticing:

fewer backlinks, recent backlinks are missing, yahoo backlink went awol last update, dmoz awol on this go-around. I'm on a mac so I can't check pr using toolbar but I know that my over all hits from google have dropped significantly. I am assuming it is due to the missing backlinks. I am hoping this backlink update is not complete. Have other lost their yahoo and dmoz backlinks?

teeceo,

If you're hitting one datacenter and your buddy's hitting another, then you'll be seeing a different PR than he is.

See msg #11 in this thread for how to see your PR on -ex.

I see some fresh links, but getting a true picture of back links from Google for the most part is a waste of time.. Want to see fresh backlinks? Head to ATW.

teeceo,

>>"annej" witch server are your seeing the different slerp's on? <<

It's been a couple of days but I think it was -in that was different. Today it's -ex, -va, -zu

Something is happening but subtle next to the old days.

Have other lost their yahoo and dmoz backlinks? - Yes they have been gone for a couple of months. This site has been in both directories for over a year!? Also my Category: Listing in the serps is missing the last couple of months? :(

Halftime of the update: Yahoo.com is back in the PR 10 Charts. After some month with a PR 9 they came back to PR 10 now. Surprising finding: A PR 10 candidate outside the US appeared, the Keio University. What else? See [suchmaschinen-optimierung-seo.info...]

Hi,

My sites have been off google because some hacker placed a robots.txt on my server. (around june 15th)

I have been waiting months for google update to happen and for my sites to be back on google.

Please can you tell me if my sites will appear again on google.

my sites still have a rank (pr6 and pr5) and its links seem to be changing too.

many thanks.

Backlinks have halved for us and we've dropped in PR, although the SERPS for our keywords do not seem to have changed so I'm not worried at the moment.

We also lost two dmoz backlinks. Like I say though, no change in SERPS or traffic, so it doesn't really matter. Yet.

Anyone notice any major changes? New spam filters etc?

I have gone down a bit in the SERPS.

Some top listing seem to be returning results based mainly and in fact often solely on anchor text.

I've lost 10 backlinks (from 75 to 65) - however have increased from PR5 to PR6 - Just got to sit and wait for it to affect the rankings now.

I did aquire quite a few links last month but they don't seem to be showing as backlinks. The increase in PR makes me think google have changed the criteria for link:?

I've gone from 105 to 93 although have added at least another 40 links.

Although PR has gone from 5 - 6

Strange!

Does there seem to be any effect on SERP's?

Also what happened to the internal lnks being shown if the home page was of PR 4 or higher. For example my home and top level pages are all PR5 - why don't they show up as pointing to each other? Lots of other sites have this. Or does this just take time for google to sort out.

So far over the past 2 backlink updates my links are going down by a few each month yet I'm adding more than a few high PR links each month and my PR has gone up? Is google taking into account "relevance"? I have a PR5 personal home page that has nothing to do with my main site and I have a link from that personal site and it was dropped in this update - also happened with another new PR5 site that I have a link from that is off-topic as well.

My traffic has been way down since this backlink update started - maybe just a coincidence?

Mike
