Is that true that national version of google, like google.de searches only in .de domains?

It varies depending which Google you're using. For example, the 'pages from the UK' search on www.google.co.uk needs a domain to have a .uk extension or a UK IP address.

Other national Google's...?

On versions from countries where national language is other than english, you get the option to search for pages in that language (e.g. german on google.de). But you can also choose to search the web, which gives you all sites, independent of language, domain extension or hosting. Or you can search pages from the country, same as UK.

It varies between countries. Some will give the option to search the country, others the language and some will offer both. In multilungual countries they will offer several options. Check it out for the countries you want to be listed in by clicking on them.

The days that the Google interface was simple are over: try to make sense of these: [google.be...] and [google.ch...] .

BTW: the language tag doesn't do much for 'seacrh in this language'.

Whilst attending SES Sydney March this year I asked the same question of the Google people there, a mixture of Adwords USA people and Google Australia people, and the suggestion from them was that regional listings in ODP were used as a guideline.

HitProf, where can't you make sense of google.ch? Default is German, but you can also get the interface in English, French or Italian. And the language search works pretty well for me.

So not to confuse Dual22 more than neceessary:
All local Google sites offer a www search, which is basically the same index as the one you get in Google.com.

If you want to found when users restrict searches, you have to meet the qualifications, which are either to have a site in local language, or to have a site with local domain or local hosting.

This is the basics. Not touching on problems with growing differences between what is shown on any given Google site.
