What update, the monthly update of SERPS is over.
It is being done on a continuous basis and this is why your SERPs are fluxing.
The only thing changing monthly or there abouts is backlink totals and PR displays. By the time the numbers change, it doesn't matter because they have already been calculated, thus the flux in the SERPs during the month as things change on a continous basis.
teeceo.
There seems to be very little predictability with Google at the moment.
A look on Google of sites containing the terms of my website URL went up from 216 to 330 a couple of days ago and today it dropped back to 216; very strange.
not strange at all.
You were assigned different servers for your searches by random.
To be sure, only use www2.google.com OR www3.google.com
These subdomains will always result in asking exactly the same machine.
The traditional 'dance' may be over, but there are still monthly backlinks updates (which I believe was the original question).
pegaweb, my notes show the start of the backlinks updates for the past three months as:
aug - aug 29
july - aug 8
june - june 15
PageRank still seems to be adjusting during this update period, but with all the algo changes, its difficult to determine what relevance G is placing on PR these days.
The rolling updates seem to be in play these days, but I'm only seeing significant moves (in the SERPS) on my newer sites, with the older sites staying relatively stable.
