Dilemma of 2 domains with one content and different pagerank

domains pagerank content

I run a website which lives in one domain '1' (which has a PR5) while it is called another domain '2' (which is PR7, and a memorable name). I currently cloaked redirect from '2' to '1', originally to save on server rental fees. As my site becomes more popular, '2' has become PR7, because its the name of the site, and easier to remember...

Now the dilemma: if I copy the content from the PR5 to the PR7 site, what will happen?! Is it possible I will be penalised for having the same content in both places?! Should I reverse the redirect instead, so there is no content left on site '1'.

The normal approach is to issue HTTP status 301 redirects from the pages on the old domain to those on the new. This can create temporary problems, including duplicate listings, particularly at first.

Another option is just to link from the old domain to the new domain, passing PageRank (though not the multi-domain anchor text boost).

Yes, issue 301 from '1' to the new domain.
