Unwanted cloaking in google

Looks like we're cloaking, but we're not

This is really weird.

Have a few new pages on the site (recently re-written URL's to allow them to be spidered).

Googlebot has been along and indexed them all, but the cached page in google is something else.

If I click on the link, it takes me through to the correct page. I look at the google cache for that page (URL is correct - I checked it about 10 times) and it's a completely different page on the site.

Any ideas anyone?

To google, it looks like we're cloaking, but we can't see where the problem is.....

...did you change your site layout lately? Just a thought... that's an odd problem. I hope that they're pages on your site at least : )

No solutions for you, only a thought

At the height of the madness 2 er 3 months ago? We stopped following the G trail on WW and concentrated on SERP’s alone… …the gut reaction says that G is either experimenting openly, but for so long?! No, I don’t think so. More like they want to keep people guessing which way they are going, which algo they are going to use…

As for your cache on G that’s G’s problem and not yours.

Well, actually it's our problem - I'm sure that google don't care about this.

It's our problem because google thinks that it has indexed these pages, whereas in fact, it's indexed a completely different page under that URL.......

What different page has it cached? Is it another page on your site, a page from another site, a blank page, a bright red page etc?

[edit] does it correspond somehow, is what I mean...[/edit]

I don't think you are the first person to whom this has happened. I'm almost certain that someone else commented on the same problem a couple of months ago.

Clearly, there is a bug in Google. I would suggest changing the date/time stamp (or whatever) on the affected pages to ensure that they are cached correctly next time.

Sorry I forgot to answer that point - structure is like this:-

Parent page : Widget_Reviews_All.html

Sub-pages : Review_1.html
Review_2.html
Review_3.html

etc

Review_1.html to Review_3.html have been crawled and indexed, but the cached page for all three of them is "Widget_Reviews_All.html" (although the URL states "Review_X.html").

So, the parent page that they are linked from, although they are also linked to from other pages....
