Hi.

About a month ago, I was pretty lucky. Bought a domain, hosted my code at a free hosting site, optimised it, exchanged a few links, submitted it, and 2 weeks later i had a page one result at Google for the title.

I casually checked it last week, and cannot find my site anywhere in the first 20 pages.

If I do a search for my URL, Google says no information found.

If I do LINK: myURL it finds 3 backlinks,
the first of which has my free hosting address listed, instead of the domain name that I had bought.

So....
1. Did I fall off Google? Were they just being nice to a beginner site?
2. Was it because I only have simple name forwarding from my domain name to the free hosting account?
3. I have a separate paid hosting account, that I use for another site. I am considering moving my code to the paid host, and store the pages as a subdomain of that paid hosting account.

a. What kind of forwarding/redirecting will be involved? Godaddy was the domain registrar. Do I have to update the domain name servers at Godaddy? Or just do name forwarding?
b. Should I leave my old pages at the free host, and update them with a link directly to my new subdomain?
c. Is there a way of getting the Google listing updated quickly?

My guess is that your first listing in G was a freshbot listing, keep getting backlinks and adding more content.

get a paid hosting account and point the dns records at that.
