Strange Google indexing behavior involving links on home page

I had on my Home page a bunch of links to my pages and slight descriptions next to them at the bottom of my home page. I also have a Footer at the bottom with some links to some pages. In addition I have a site map.

At anyrate, I noticed that all pages near the bottom of my Home page were not indexed anymore(in the body not the footer ones). The footer ones were still indexed, and all my pages in my site map were, except the ones at the bottom of my home page with the descriptions next to them.

So in my infinate wisdom I left the text and removed the actual links to the pages(the ones at the bottom of home page). Walah, less then 24hrs later all are now index again....

Strage behavior which I cant explain, all are now back in the index and ranking very well..... Just wanted to give you a heads up on this, hope it helps.

Did you check the logs to see when those pages were spidered? Good chance there is no relation between your modification and the sub pages being indexed again if they showed up in the SERPs less than 24 hours after updating the home page.

I checked they were spidered in that 24hr period.

But they were in the index before. I noticed a couple pages dropped, then a couple more over a couple weeks. Then I saw a correlation between all the ones on the Home page with descriptions next to it and not showing in the index.

They were all grey bared aswell , and it was only those pages they were on the home page at the bottom with desriptions next to them.

Again I figured drop the links, but keep the text(for SEO reasons) and see what happens. To my amazment Bam...less then 24 back in and ranking very good.

What does it mean? I have no idea....
