How long Google has been including a "Description" line in it's result pages? It's is new for us, but since we are not even listed in the Google directory yet, why us the ODP description?

As you noticed, the description line is from the ODP. I expect you'll get into the Google Directory when it updates.

Google have been using the DMOZ description for as long as I can remember. Google's own directory is fed by the DMOZ directory pretty much, except it has added features such as ordering by PR etc.
