Backlink Confusion

Any reason why the latest dance didn't pick up my backlinks in Yahoo and Zeal? It has been very frustrating because halfway through the dance, all 10 servers were showing my new backlinks. Now they are gone! I assume the dance is over and the index is set until next time (if there is one).

I've worked hard to get high PR links to my site and it seems like Google basically ignored them.

I've tried to do everything the right way - loads of unique content, high PR backlinks, optimization, PATIENCE - and still I only get ranked well for a couple of keywords.

What gives? How do I get my backlinks recognized?

If Google doesn't show a backlink, that does not necessarily mean that the backlink is not been counted for (i.e. it is possible your PageRank was increased even if the number on the Toolbar-PageRank didn't change).

It depends on the PR of the page with the link, and the PR of the page being linked. Until recently you wouldn't see links unless both are PR4+. Now it seems to be inconsistent.

As for Zeal, I'm not sure if these links are found by Google and to me it looks most pages have a PR0. For Yahoo there might be another problem. Some Yahoo pages are above 101KB causing the last links to be ignored by Google. Hard to say without knowing the name of the site.
