I have to do a lot of different product research on the net for my business.

I have always had to go down in pages to find real revelant results for what I need -- to get past send money add sites.

Now I,m starting to find total junk in the first page results like "domain not configured" and pages that are under construction or pages that seem to have been abandoned for a year or so and have nothing related to anything on them.

What gives?

Well, we have updated one of our web sites (complete rebuild) a few weeks ago. Google updated the new pages within a week or two, however, the ranking did not change a bit. And it should, the new web site is quite different from the old one. Not better or worse from an SEO point of view, but different - I would have expected some changes.

This makes me think that Google updates the content of a page quickly, but takes some time to reevaluate the rankings. So there might be "fresh" pages in the Google results (like "we are updating our web site - come back later"), for which the ranking is based on the pagesī old content.
