PR Vs Page Hits.

Does Higher PR Means More Hits?

I noticed something very strange, My site was PR5 then dropped to PR2, I did not notice a significant difference regarding the hits I was getting from Google. A few days a go I noticed my PR is back to 5 but my hits is less than 1/2 what I was getting when I was PR2.

I am confused, even though I gave up long time a go on the PR hype since I can not see any significant of it when I do a search and I get a site with low PR to be displayed ahead of another site with higher PR.

The question I am about to ask has been asked probably numerous times before but I am asking it again, Does higher PR means anything? Thanks for any Straight forward answers.
