What causes a site to become omitted and not show up unless you go to the last page and click to view omitted results?

Those after are considered less relevant, is my understanding. That's what it says, so it's all we can go by.

Thank you for your input, but is there any specific things that would cause a page to be entered in the omitted sites such as duplicate information or same page titles? Any suggestions?

In my experiences its been pages within the same domain name or something very close.
For instance, my competitor's Widget Directory where you can view widgets in every state or by every widget company is all generated and they get 1,700 backlinks reported by google. However when I look at their backlinks only 85 show up, the other 1,615 are omitted because they are all the same thing... widget listings.

How does the google spider index dynamic .asp pages? Does it pull the relevant information from the database?

Does it pull the relevant information from the database?

Nope, it does it just like a human does - it follows links, hits the pages, and indexes whatever text the server sends.

Will a page generated with Netscape Composer rank differently? How much weight do meta tags carry?

Will a search engine index past the '?' in a query string?

For some reason I can't post new threads, my problem kind of matches this one in that one of my sites mysteriously became omitted....

I run a very well established website that had some very weird things happen to it today.

-Totally gone from Google at about 9am EST this morning. Nothing comes up when I search by keyword or the URL, try to pull up a cached copy, or anything. It's like the page never existed.

-The toolbar still shows a PR7; I tried from several different computers and they're all indicating the same. I thought a banned page would have grey PR?

-I checked the logs and Googlebot came by several times to grab some pages *after* it disappeared from the SERPs.

Has anyone seen this happen before? It's quite odd.

You can, they're premoderated - on hold at first.

Pages do get "lost" sometimes, particularly if there's server downtime. In the past the toolbar would go grey until the site was back in - things are different now.

There are things happening on different data centers, give it a few days to settle in before panicking.
