I see on sj a site that has ONLY guestbook links on a competitive keyword as first place, and ask if this is the type of results people should expect from the new index?

Same thing with some of my keywords. Guestbook spammers on Nr.1 . Sometimes sites with no backlinks at all are positioned before my site. Scared!

I know it's hard to keep up with about a thousand posts about the new index, but Googleguy informed us that the update will be in phases. Some of those phases include applying spam filters, and adding new results to the index.
Try to be patient, the update is far from over ...
