To be or not to be?

I have an empty page in my site called www.widgets.com/widgetproducts.htm but it redirects to the page www.widgets.com/products.htm

Is this ok with Google? There is no real reason that it is redirected, its just the way one of my partners did it when constructing our site and to go back and change it is a huge project (500 pages).

Is it neccessary to go back and change?

ariff44,

I'd use a server-generated 301-Moved Permanently redirect, not a meta-refresh redirect.

Try submitting a site to AltaVista - It won't accept redirected pages, and that should give you a hint.

If a server redirect is not possible, look for a multi-file editor. There are many freeware multi-file editors that you can use to change all pages on your site in about 15 seconds. You *do* have to re-upload the pages after editing, though. That's the only time-consuming part.

jdmorgan,

Can you direct me to some of these file editors I can use. It would be a great help.
