Getting in Google News... How Does it Help?

We are now getting many of our news articles in Google News

We are now getting a lot of our articles being picked up by Google News. We put out 3-5 articles a day (news articles, not reviews & features) and Google News has started to pick them up.

I'm wondering if anyone else who has been picked up by Google News has observed any positive effects. Were STILL a PR 6, which just drives me crazy. Will it help with our SERPS? Our PR? Or have no effect?

Thanks,
Robin

I can see it helping your pr only if people deeplink to your articles, and if those links remain.

Exposure and increased traffic is a good thing, as some people may bookmark your site and return to it, as wll as do the word of mouth thing.

Certain articles are deeplinked in dmoz and zeal, too.

I did some work at Red Herring magazine and it always killed me how they wasted the head and dek with clever (but no-traffic) keywords.

Just a side note, I only saw to referrals from news.goggle.com yesterday - so I don't think a lot of traffic comes from that area of Google... though I'm not sure. Plus our stories were pretty obscure.

Obscure is probably better.

I agree - you won't get any PR boost from google news directly, but if people find your obscure news story - and link to it - and you leave the pages up it will help.

I am routinely searching news using google news and do link to stories I find there.
