Minor filetype syntax behavior change

I'm almost sure you used to be able to run a search like:
"filetype:pdf site:www.site.com"
and get a list of all the pdf's google had found from a site.

Now it looks like you have to specify at least one keyword:
"keyword filetype:pdf site:www.site.com"

Can anyone confirm the old behavior for that first search? Maybe I'm just imagining things.
