Link popularity software - Banned?

I just realized that one of the largest software makers to automate link popularity has NO PR at all - GREY!
and link:companysite.com doesn't show any backlinks...

I thought it is strange since they claim that they use their own software to find their own link partners...

I am wondering if google doesn't like them and simply "banned" the domain...

any thoughts?

Not surprising or unusual. Although I'm not speaking specifically about the company you mention, it happens to a great many companies that sell software that perform automated queries on the search engines.

Automated queries violate most search engine's TOS.
