my deep crawl has begun and i wanted to do some changes in my site.add a few more pages.

is it safe?

I'll agree with Krapulator on this one.

Last deepcrawl (days 2 after it started), I threw up 30 or so new pages and they all made it in the update a few days back.

Maybe that was luck, either way the worst that can happen is new or changed content not making it into the next update.
