Exchanging links with pr0's?

I have just got an email requesting a recipricoal link to my site from a PR6 site. However when I went to the links page the PR is 0 (bar is white). Ive looked at the rest of the site and this is the only page with a 0 PR - the rest are 3 to 6.

Is it dangerous to exchange links with this site?

Hi Irish, welcome to the board

I would not exchange a link with that site, if the link would be placed on their links page.
Links pages are not such a good idea anyway. The best link is in context.

Why do you say that? I don't use the word links I prefer resources, but all of my clients links/res pages are PR5's

tigger, I'm not saying links pages don't work. As you said, use alternative names for them, and it's probably okay.
Anyway, a links page as per definition contains lots of links = not good. A links page in most cases looks amateurish, and outdated as a feature from the past.

I have stopped using linkspages.

I prefer links to be a part of the regular content, not seperated and all lumped together.
I know themeing has not arrived yet, so that aspect is rather one to keep in mind for the future.
But thinking along the lines of what is good for the user a link embedded and carried by relevant content makes much more sense than a simple list of unrelated links.

Anyway, just to make that clear: the main reason for not exchanging links in the scenario Irish described, would be the PR0 of the links page.

And getting clients to agree to that would be a nightmare, its hard enough convincing clients to have a links page

When I do backlinks check on our competitors almost all of their links are on links pages. As they are ahead of us in certain search terms then it's only sensible for us to also include link exchanging on these kinds of pages as we can see no other reason than this that they are in front of us in the serps.
