Here is my dilemma in a nut shell. We have 12 domains all independent but linked together through a links page at each site. We have just completed our large nutrition guide. It has about 300 pages just for the guide alone. We have loaded the guide into one of our domains and have the link at the other domains pointing to this one for users to view the guide. We want to build our link popularity at our other domains but don't want to "piss" off the bots. If we load this guide into each domain so that they all run independent of each other will the bots penalize this as duplicate pages even though they are at different sites? We don't want to have to change the pages for each site. Each page has links at the bottom to each product home page. WHAT TO DO WHAT TO DO? HELP!
Sincerely,
Paul Barbosa

if it's for users, keep your nutrition guide on one server, and serve it all from there. on the other sites just frame / link to that guide. users will not notice they can go straight to that domain (unless you make it clear).
if instead you want PR, then short of spreading it out amongst the domains ;) [yuk], I think you're safe if every domain has a paragraph or two different on the page, [eg, at the bottom about the domain, the different links, etc]
Who knows honestly :D I will follow this thread with great interest.
I noticed this month that 2 travel sites that are run by the same entity with different original content for the same travel destination, but advertising the same hotels etc. this month Google dropped most of the results for the second domain's advert pages, even though the extensions for one site are .html and the other are .htm and the file names are different in most cases as well as the title and meta tags...
So... keep your guide on one site only.
If you want to spread the linking between the other domains, why not have banners at the top of each page that say something like "This page sponsored by [xyz-health-product.com]", and then the next page can be sponsored by [site2-healthproduct.com] and etc.
Soon there can be so many backlinks that the ones under your direct control will be but a small part of the picture.
