Hi guys..would someone please tell me why does the pr goes down....
if suppose i am constantly making links for a site...and after the update, it shows even less backward links than before...what could be the reason(s)?

it was said in the big update thread that webmasterworld had lost a point of pagerank. maybe it's index-wide.

It must be index-wide, my incoming links for one site have increased and my pagerank dropped a point. That makes no sense, but what else is new.

your page rank is your rank in relation to other sites so it is possible for it to go up or down without you making any changes.

We got a whole set of very good backlinks (PR5-7) before the last crawl and our number of backlinks has increased by about 60% on this update, however our own PR has remained static at a mid range 6, after dropping down from a high 6 a few months ago. I guess that it is indeed all relative given the fact that a lot of others have seen a drop. Keeping the PR10 group an elite bunch necessarily requires constant changes to the flow of PR ranks all the way down the line!

JLindsay, or anyone else for that matter, how do you know if your site is a high pr6 or a mid range pr6? By where it is in the directory? Or...?

from what i've read elsewhere, pagerank is calculated across every site google indexes, which makes pr relative.

in other words, we're all in the big swimming pool together, and the water must rise and fall accordingly. ;-)

thats it..thats what the reason is for me...i lately had a lot of links with pr 1,2,3...so thats the reason for the decline of my pr..
