A cache-version of the site is still available (through the Google toolbar) and back-ward links still show. Site itself - with all pages - has gone.
Thanks for the reply - since you're the only one that even bothers.
Ï've checked the current update-results out and problem remains. In the last couple of days we did a lot of research here (in Holland), because a couple of clients lost some domain names in G. (and we've seen the same with a couple of SEO-companies over here).
Our theory is that that Google has increased their duplicate content criteria. We all know that URLs that resolve to the same content are deleted from the database (or at least one - often the oldest one remains), but now we've seen it happen with domains that are hosted seperately and have 'unique' content (but are of same company).
Thing is that they're not entirely unique in their content; some text phrases are repeated, however in a different order. They have some difference in incoming and outbound links. Outcome is that one or few domains remain in the database and the others are gone (even if they have a DMOZ entry).
Question is: can these domains come back (without a penalty on them) if new (and unique) content is placed on them (they kept getting spiderhits th elast couple of days)?
As far as your question on DMOZ... just be happy you can reach it! I seldom even bother anymore when I get 10 time-outs in a row (I think I have an old XT in the garage I could contribute to them for a backup server!).......... :)
