What does Google think of XML Sites

I have a commercial website that I am looking to rebuild in XML so that I can put each product onto a specific page. Can anyone give me advice on the do's and don'ts of doing this, and what Google will think of it?

Good question.

I think the Semantic Web has tremendous potential for Google, but OTOH I think XML pages should be ignored by google at this point (except for links and maybe to help "define" the link) because it isn't used to browse.

But I'm sure there are aspects to xml that I don't "get" so bear that in mind.

If the output of the XML site produces .htm pages is this still ok?
