Doorway or Duplicate Issues?

Hi all!
I have scoured the archives looking for a definitive answer (I know) and thought since we're all waiting around anyway, why not pose this question.

I sell let's say handmade grass skirts and while my primary market has been the hula circuit for many years and my site gets a lot of hula related traffic, I know there are other markets for my grass skirts. For instance, people looking for Halloween costumes.

I buy "www.HalloweenCostumeIdeas.com" which consists of a home page explaining why grass skirts make such excellent costumes for Halloween. When the customer goes to order one, it links to the hula site's back-end shopping cart system.

My intention is not to mislead. I have some cool products that would work well in many markets but they were once very specifically targeted to one market.

Any ideas about how to do this right without upsetting the bot-gods? I love Google and our relationship means the world to me.

To be honest, I would, and do the same.
If i read all those kind of messages here it would seem that if you have 1 succesfull site you cant do anything else because G wont like that. (or the competition)

I mean, I would be a fool -not- to use my existing audience to introduce new site I made, or expand on demand, right?

Some site's I have keep expanding.
When I notice that the "grass shirts" site also brings in visitors who have interest in hemp shirts, i make a hemp-shirt page, and perhaps a hemp background information page, and along the way add some more related pages, at that point i also make a "homepage" for those hempthingies.
Some would call it a doorway page, I call it a index.

Now I make a bookshop, on a new domain, I sell all kind of shirts-books, why wouldn't I point to it from all my sites?
Beside the fact that other booksellers dont like it.

How I see it, I made 2 good sites, with quality content, everybody in my "niche" knows about them, likes them and link them.
IF the googlebot don't like what I do, and ban or penalise my sites, and people won't find them at the first results page, google has a problem.
Those pages belong at the top ranking. (have been there since google excists.)
IF they dont show up, and lesser site's do, Google looses some creditability.
(I hate to sound arrogant, but its the way it is)

I know WW for about a month, and didn't even know SEO excisted or pagerank, or fresh- and deep-bot.
But I did most things right I guess, got a decent PR7
(I guess its decent, what would be a good PR btw?)

I wouldn't worry to much about it, I dont :)
