Still geting the Freshbot?

Is anyone still geting the freshbot? I havn't seen it in four hours, and the tags are going away. Perdicts a dance with in 24 hours!

64.68.82.57 Googlebot (freshbot?) was all over my site yesterday (07/04) at 12:23 British Summer Time.

Nothing since.

Good or bad sign? This is my first update and I'm going nuts!

That's a good sign. Also seeing the dates in the listings go away is another good sign, and they started going away today and are almost gone. I've got the fresh bot only twice in the last six hours. Seeing GoogleGuy show up here is another good sign!

It's crazy, I know, but I just can't concentrate on actually doing any work 'til I get through this first one. I'm bloomin' desperate to know if all those late nights have made a bean's worth of difference.

Hmm...fresh tags disappearing, and Googleguy reappearing. I see a hazy image of an update in my crystal ball on the 10th. Then again, I have experienced a number of drug induced hallucinations in the past, so perhaps y'all should rely on that too much. ;)

I don't know how much monitoring freshbot helps in predicting the update...freshbot was in my site last month right up until the update and during the update.....I thought the little guy should at least get a rest during the update, but he took no rest...

I think in general people no longer view freshbot activity or inactivity as a predictor of the update. If anyone does see it that way, it would be nice to know.

Last update frehbot continued to visit my sites as per norm - however during the update the fresh tags disappeared from www but were showing in www2 - www3 only.

BTW - Cant see fresh dates at the moment in www,www1 or www2 (of course that happens sometimes anyway)

I've seen the freshbot come right up to the time of the dance, and through the dance. However, even though the freshbot is coming around, right before the dance there are no fresh tags. Perhaps just before the dance it is looking for new pages? No fresh tags are a hopeful sign for those wanting an update. However, should the fresh tags reappear take a few days off.

The pages that are 'fresh pages' (not fresh tagged) I think are dating back to 6th April - I wonder if Google just freeze the old serps just before they do an update and some fresh pages get caught - after all there is no need to carry on working on serps from the old results and providing fresh results on these serps if they are soon to be out of date.

Just a thought.....

Freshbot def visited my site during the update last month. It was there right before, during and after so I no longer consider that it is any indication of an update being imminent....

Yep - No doubt that Freshbot was there last month - but I only saw the fresh results on www2 and www3 - not www.

It drove me crazy - one of my sites had a complete re-design days before the last update and was getting fresh results in www2 and www3 but when the update had completed freshbot was not going so deep and the results never showed in www.

Yeah a page of mine has reappeared after disappearing for a couple of days in www with fresh tags April 7, but its a while since that page was hit by googlebot.

I'm new to this game. How can I check to see if the freshbot is visiting my site?

The two posts just below yours contain two examples of googlebot UA (User Authorization) strings.

To check them (UA strings) you'll need to be able to read your access_log files. Do you currently have access to them? Check with your host server to see just what you are entitled to use.

Access_Log Files house every impression every visitor (human or otherwise) makes.

Some stats programs/application either provided by your host server or yourself (in certain cases) show similar data - but not as detailed as those you can inspect yourself via access_log files.

Doing a Site Search [webmasterworld.com] using 'access_log files' pulls up some additional readings.

Last time my site was crawled was on 20 march and my site still does not appear on any search:

Googlebot crawled 144 pages ... how long do they take to include it in the database? .. Do I have to expect another crawl this month before I'm included in the search database?

If you haven't access to the log files, you will see a date beside the cache in the Google serps a day or two after the freshbot visit.
