I'm new to this forum (and fairly new to the whole world of webmasters and running a website).
I'm just confused about whether the Google update has happened yet or not. I did a search on a keyword phrase, and got good (and new) results for my website, so I assumed perhaps the update was in. But PR remains the same, as does the number of backward links, and I see no mention of the update here (only past messages anticipating it).
If it hasn't happened yet, could it be that Google sometimes 'leaks' some of its updated page results in the days leading up to the full update?

Many thanks for the link and your responses, but not sure what you mean by 'freshbot'. I thought that the bot only put new pages into google's index, but the new results I'm seeing are for our homepage, which has been in the index for some months, and is suddenly appearing at #2 for one of our keyword phrases at google.
If freshbot is able to affect a page's ranking (not just initial inclusion) before the monthly update, how frequently does the bot do this - I've never seen any other movement in our results at google before, other than following each update.
